Questions and Answers

1. Who can I trust?

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Many believers quote these verses, including myself, but in the crunch the words seem to be mere words that don't apply to the circumstances.

Trust: A primitive root; properly, to hide for refuge; figuratively, to trust, be confident or sure:—be bold (confident, secure, sure), careless (one, woman), put confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust.

In Proverbs 3:5, trust means: wholly rely upon God's promises and providences. Lean not: under this one kind of carnal confidence, he understands all other confidence in bodily strength, wealth, or friends.

How often we lean on other things, people, institutions, etc. rather than God?

People trust in many things but ultimately we should place our trust in God and his council.

For the Bible says, ‘‘Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God’’ Psalm 20:7

It also says ‘‘He who trust in the lord will prosper he who trust in himself is a fool’’ Proverbs 28:25,26

It basically goes to say that people will always fail you even if they don’t mean to. But God never fails.

‘‘He will not fail you or forsake you.’’ Chronicles 28:20

‘My salvation will last forever my righteousness will never fail’’ Isaiah 51:6

We can choose to place our trust in man that will sooner or later fails us and lead us astray or we can place our trust in God who's perfection knows all and never fails.
